Imphal, 19 December (HS):Security forces carried out a major anti-narcotics operation and destroyed poppy plantations spread over a total area of 119 acres at LM Block, Yaolen Chepu and Lamlai Chingphei areas on Thursday.

During the operation, as many as 24 huts found at the plantation sites were also burnt. The drive was undertaken as part of continued efforts to curb illegal poppy cultivation and dismantle infrastructure supporting the illicit drug trade.---------
