Hooghly, 16 December (H.S.): Trinamool Congress councillor of Ward Number 18 of Dankuni Municipality Surya De found his name in the list of deceased voters in the draft voter list released on Tuesday. Following this, the councillor went to the crematorium to stage a symbolic protest, expressing his anger at the Election Commission.

As per information, Councillor Surya De has been a resident of the area for a long time. His serial number is 40, and his booth number is 226. When the draft voter list was published on Tuesday morning, it was discovered that his name was in the list of deceased voters. Without informing anyone, he arranged for all the necessary items for his own symbolic funeral and went to the crematorium.

Sitting at the crematorium, Councillor Surya De said, I have come here myself for my own funeral. I am a public representative, and I am being shown as dead. I strongly condemn this. I have now come to the crematorium. I request the officials of the Election Commission to come and cremate me.
