16 Dec (HS): A speeding automobile crashed with another vehicle under dense fog
on the Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki district on Tuesday,
killing two people and injuring three others, according to authorities. The
collision occurred in Sariyan hamlet in the Haidergarh Kotwali region when a
Maruti Ertiga attempted to pass another car and collided with a Mahindra
Scorpio that was moving ahead, according to reports. Due to poor visibility
caused by fog, the drivers of both vehicles failed to see traffic on the e-way
in time, according to the police, and the hit was so violent that the Ertiga
was launched into the air and plunged into a roadside ditch after skidding off
the road.
Babloo
(35), a native of Bahuhara village in Bihar's Chapra district, and Deepak Kumar
(36) from Hanumangarh in the Lalganj region of Azamgarh district, who were traveling
in the Ertiga, killed in the tragedy, according to officials. The injured were
identified as Mohammad Tahir (55), Asif (22) and Kamruddin Ansari (64), all
from Azamgarh district. They were
originally admitted to a neighboring hospital and then transferred to the
district hospital for additional treatment.
When
local police received information, they hurried to the scene and began rescue
efforts. According to authorities, the
damaged cars were impounded, and the bodies were transferred for post-mortem
testing.
