New Delhi, 16 December (H.S.): Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla issued a stern admonition to members on Tuesday, objecting to their daily practice of submitting adjournment motions on personal issues during the Winter Session proceedings.Following Question Hour, Birla named several members whose motions he rejected outright, criticizing the trend of routine submissions merely to gain public mention.
He emphasized that adjournment proposals must address only immediate and gravely urgent matters, warning that persistent misuse would result in no further acknowledgment of such members' names.
This intervention underscores Birla's push for disciplined parliamentary discourse, reserving procedural disruptions for truly critical national concerns amid ongoing debates on electoral reforms and judicial inquiries.
