Hooghly, 16 December (H.S.): BJP MLA from Khanakul Sushant Ghosh has been accused of assaulting the chairman of the education committee inside the office of the BJP-controlled Panchayat Samiti. A few days ago, the same BJP MLA was accused of entering the Khanakul BDO office and threatening officials. This time, on Monday afternoon, he allegedly beat up the education committee chairman inside the office. The incident has sparked a political controversy. The BJP leadership has remained silent on the matter.

As per information, a meeting was held at the Khanakul No. 2 Panchayat Samiti office on Monday afternoon. A heated argument broke out over the collection of ferry service fees. Allegedly, during this argument, MLA Sushant Ghosh attacked Education Committee Chairman Rabin Patel. He was slapped and punched. The injured Rabin was first taken to Khanakul Rural Hospital and later admitted to Arambagh Medical College and Hospital.

Rabin Patel alleged, The MLA himself runs a ferry service in the name of the party's Mandal president. During the Panchayat Samiti's finance committee meeting, I raised questions about the ferry service money. He has only given one lakh rupees. He hasn't given the remaining 20.5 lakh rupees. When I spoke about this, I was brutally assaulted.

The incident has triggered a political uproar. The Trinamool Congress has strongly condemned the incident. Trinamool state secretary Swapan Nandi said that the BJP itself is resorting to violence over the distribution of money. They tried to hide the infighting, but it has now come to light.

Arambagh organizational district BJP president Sushant Bera said that he has heard about the incident and is investigating. He said he cannot comment before knowing the facts.

Meanwhile, the accused BJP MLA said that all these allegations are false. He claimed that the education committee chairman was standing and shouting, and then he slipped and fell. He wished him a speedy recovery.
