As part of the ongoing crackdown on narcotics across the state, Ghilamara Police have seized 4.707 kilograms of ganja and arrested a suspected drug peddler during a targeted operation, police informed on Tuesday.
Acting on specific intelligence about illegal storage of contraband, a police team led by Officer-in-Charge Abhijit Doley conducted a raid at the residence of Raju Senapati, son of Purna Senapati, a resident of Pitamani village under Ghilamara Police Station. During the search, police recovered approximately 4.707 kg of ganja kept concealed inside a plastic bag behind the house.
According to police sources, the arrested accused had allegedly been involved in illegal ganja trade for a long time across Dhakuakhana, Ghilamara, Subansiri and Gogamukh areas, evading law enforcement agencies.
Following the seizure, the accused was taken into custody and a case has been registered. Samples of the seized contraband have been sent for forensic examination. The operation has been widely appreciated by local residents and organisations, who have lauded the proactive role of the Ghilamara Police in curbing illegal activities in the area.-------------
