Prayagraj,
16 Dec (HS): In a press conference held at the Chandrashekhar Azad Circuit
House on Tuesday regarding the Magh Mela 2026, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav
Prasad Maurya stated that a safe and well-organized Magh Mela is the
government's priority. He emphasized that officials have been instructed to
ensure that the fair is conducted in a systematic manner, ensure that pilgrims
arrive safely, take a dip in the Sangam, and return safely. He also emphasized
that instructions have been issued to ensure that organizations that have
previously held events and come to the fair with a spirit of service face no
inconvenience.
The
Deputy Chief Minister noted that during the Samajwadi Party government, the
world-famous Magh Mela received a budget cut of only Rs. 30 crore. However,
when the BJP government came to power under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath,
the budget was increased to over Rs. 90 crore, facilitating the safe conduct of
the fair. The Deputy Chief Minister also noted that Prayagraj has an
uninterrupted, clean river Ganges. He discussed with officials the plan to
build electric crematoriums from Prayagraj to Shringverpur Puramufti and Arail.
Kumbh
Mela 2025 became history: Since the BJP government came to power, there has
been a constant effort to organize the Magh Mela like a mini Kumbh. Therefore,
the government is striving to make the Magh Mela 2026 a mini Kumbh as well. The
fair will focus on cleanliness, safety, and good behavior. During the 2019 Ardh
Kumbh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude to the sanitation
workers by washing their feet, conveying the message that a clean fair is
impossible without sanitation workers.
