Odisha Police Demolish Properties Linked to Alleged Drug Trafficker in Puri

Bhubaneswar, 16 December (H.S.): Continuing its crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Puri Police on Tuesday demolished three houses allegedly linked to Tiki Khan, the son-in-law of suspected brown sugar dealer Sukanti Panda.

Police sources said the latest demolition was carried out at Nilachakra Nagar, where two houses belonging to Tiki Khan were razed using JCB machines. The action forms part of an ongoing campaign to dismantle assets and curb the influence of individuals allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.

Earlier, on December 4, four houses linked to Sukanti Panda were demolished under the same drive. Those actions marked the first bulldozer operation against alleged drug peddlers in Puri, following similar enforcement measures undertaken in Bhubaneswar.

The demolitions are being conducted under Operation Chakra, a district-wide initiative aimed at making Puri “narcotics-free” through intensified raids, surveillance, and property-related actions against repeat offenders. Police officials said properties suspected to have been built using proceeds from the narcotics trade are being identified and targeted as part of the operation, which will continue in the coming days as a deterrent to organised drug networks.

Sources further stated that Sukanti Panda is currently lodged in jail after being arrested for allegedly selling 200 grams of brown sugar.

Officials involved in the earlier demolition drive had said the action followed verification that the structures were built on government land and was carried out after obtaining the necessary administrative approvals.
