
Chennai, 16 December (H.S.) : Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday presented incentive cheques to women players from Tamil Nadu who secured medals at the 7th Carrom World Cup, held in the Maldives from December 2 to 6. The Chief Minister congratulated the athletes for their achievements during a function at the Secretariat.
Specifically, the Chief Minister handed over cheques to Keerthana and Kasima, who were among the medallists. The incentives announced by the State government totaled ₹1.90 crore: Keerthana: ₹1 crore, Kasima: ₹50 lakh and Mithra: ₹40 lakh. CM Stalin encouraged the players to maintain their winning streak and continue bringing pride to the country in future competitions.
In other news, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin presented the Chief Minister with the award conferred on the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) at the 3rd CII Sports Business Awards 2025 in New Delhi on December 9. Tamil Nadu was recognized as the Best State Promoting Sports Development.
Stalin also met and congratulated the Indian team winners of the SDAT Squash World Cup 2025, which was recently held in Chennai. The players included Joshna Chinappa, Abhay Singh, Anahat Singh, and Velavan Senthilkumar.
