Hojai (Assam), 16 December (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday inaugurated the distribution of financial assistance under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA) in the Lumding Assembly constituency, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to women-led entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

A total of 27,310 women Self Help Group (SHG) members were provided with cheques of ₹10,000 each as seed capital support. The Chief Minister said empowering women entrepreneurs and turning their aspirations into reality remains one of the government’s key priorities.

Dr Sarma noted that several women from the constituency have already emerged as “Lakhpati Baideu,” achieving economic stability through entrepreneurship. He said the government’s sustained focus on Nari Shakti is central to building an Atmanirbhar Assam.

Highlighting the broader impact of the scheme, the Chief Minister said that after Udharbond, the MMUA initiative reached Lumding as part of its statewide outreach, strengthening livelihoods and dignity for women. He added that the mission aims to advance nearly 40 lakh women entrepreneurs across Assam towards self-reliance and the journey will continue with renewed momentum.----------
