Kamrup (Assam), 15 December (HS): Two separate incidents of vehicles catching fire were reported on Assam’s roads on Monday, causing panic among commuters but no loss of life. A moving car caught fire on the Kamalpur road, while a truck was seen burning on the Rangia road.
In Kamalpur, an Alto K10 car suddenly burst into flames while it was in motion. The driver noticed smoke and managed to stop the vehicle and escape just in time, narrowly saving his life. Fire services later reached the spot and brought the blaze under control. The car was completely gutted, and the cause of the fire is suspected to be a mechanical fault.
In a separate incident on the Rangia road, a truck caught fire, leading to brief traffic disruption in the area. Fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the flames. No casualties were reported in the incident. Authorities have initiated inquiries to ascertain the exact causes of both fires.
