Srinagar, 15 December (H.S.): Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Chadoora, Ali Mohammad Dar, today lodged an official complaint against the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Chadoora, alleging humiliation and disrespect.

Speaking to reporters after filing the complaint, Dar said, “As you know, an incident took place yesterday in which the SDM misbehaved with me. I have lodged a complaint against him and will take further action in the matter.”

Dar said the matter was serious and demanded accountability, asserting that no officer is above the law.

The administration for the last one week had launched an intensified drive against illegal brick kilns operating in violation of environmental norms and land-use regulations.

Three illegal brick kilns were demolished in the villages of Behrampora and Kultreh of Tehsil Chadoora of District Budgam. These units, as per officials, were operating without requisite permissions and were found to be causing severe environmental pollution, posing health risks to nearby residents, and causing irreversible damage to fertile agricultural land.

They also carried out the demolition of brick kilns at Nowbug. The demolition drive was supervised by the SDM Chadoora, Tehsildar Chadoora, SHO Chadoora, and other concerned officials.

The MLA who reached on the spot at Nowbug when the demolition drive was being carried out tried to stop the officials from carrying it out. This led to an altercation with the staff and SDM Chadoora and MLA Dar accused the SDM of misbehaving with him.

Dar said that these kilns were operating for the last 8 years and asked “who allowed them to operate illegally?
