
New Delhi, 15 December (H.S.): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday expressed deep sorrow at the demise of revered saint and former Member of Parliament Dr. Ramvilas Vedanti, describing his death as a profound national loss.
In a condolence message shared on the social media platform ‘X’, Chief Minister Gupta said, “The passing of Pujya Sant Dr. Ramvilas Vedanti ji is deeply saddening. He was one of the foundational pillars of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. His demise marks an irreparable loss to the nation. For years, he devoted himself with unparalleled sacrifice and rigorous discipline to realizing the vision of the Ram Temple. His unwavering devotion and saintly presence will remain forever etched in our memories.”
She further added that Dr. Vedanti’s life was “a beacon of true devotion to Lord Ram and selfless service to the nation.”
Gupta concluded her message with a prayer: “May Lord Shri Ram grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to his disciples, followers, and bereaved family to endure this profound grief.”
Born on October 7, 1958, in Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Ramvilas Vedanti was a distinguished scholar-saint, former Lok Sabha MP, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, and a prominent member of both the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). His contribution to the Ram Janmabhoomi movement is considered instrumental, having dedicated decades of his life to the temple cause through spiritual leadership and social mobilization.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed condolences, noting in his message that Dr. Vedanti was “a visionary spiritual leader whose lifelong commitment to Indian culture, faith, and national unity will continue to inspire generations.”
Leaders across the political and religious spectrum joined in expressing grief over his demise, remembering him as a saint who seamlessly blended Ram devotion with nation-building.
