Bhubaneswar, 15 December (H.S.) : Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved a substantial increase in the stipend for postgraduate (PG) students studying in various government Ayurvedic and Homeopathic colleges across the state. The decision has been taken to encourage students pursuing education in Ayurveda and Homeopathy. With this move, a total of 120 PG students enrolled in the two streams will benefit. The revised stipend structure will come into effect from January 1, 2026, the Chief Minister’s Office informed.

As per the decision, the stipend for first-year PG students has been increased by 55 per cent—from ₹31,000 to ₹48,000 per month. For second-year students, the stipend has been raised by 62 per cent, from ₹32,000 to ₹52,000 per month. Similarly, third-year PG students will now receive ₹55,000 per month, up from ₹33,000, marking a 67 per cent increase.

In addition, the stipend for house surgeons in government Ayurvedic and Homeopathic medical colleges has also been enhanced from ₹17,000 to ₹30,000 per month. This revised amount will be implemented retrospectively from August 1 of the current year.

The Chief Minister expressed hope that the increased financial support would enable students to focus more on their studies and patient care, thereby contributing to the delivery of quality healthcare services in the state.
