New Delhi, 14 December (H.S.): President Droupadi Murmu presented the Best Performing Unit award in the metro stations category at the National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2025 to East Vinod Nagar Metro Station on Delhi Metro's Pink Line during a ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan on Sunday, marking National Energy Conservation Day.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Managing Director Vikas Kumar received the honour from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power, which evaluated submissions from metro systems nationwide.

The station earned recognition for slashing electricity consumption and boosting its energy performance index over three financial years through vigilant monitoring and strategic upgrades, including swapping conventional tube lights for energy-efficient LEDs.

A 150 kWp rooftop solar plant now supplies nearly half its power needs, exemplifying DMRC's push for renewable integration in urban transit. Complementing these efforts, the facility holds a 'Platinum' rating from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), validating adherence to stringent sustainability benchmarks.

This accolade reinforces DMRC's leadership in fostering eco-conscious public transport, aligning with national goals for reduced carbon footprints in infrastructure.
