Chennai, 13 December (H.S.) : Congress leader and former finance minister P. Chidambaram took to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday to flag an unbearable stench near Terminal 4 of the Chennai International Airport, questioning the maintenance standards of the international facility.

In his post, Chidambaram asked, As one steps out of the main lobby in Terminal 4 to the indoor road, the stink is unbearable. Does not the Airport Manager or any of the AAI officers or employees notice the stink? How is this an international airport?”

Responding to the complaint, the Chennai Airport authorities stated that the foul odour may have been caused by a garbage-clearing truck. They explained that the truck, which operates during lean and odd hours to minimize inconvenience to passengers, had passed through the area about ten minutes prior, resulting in a remnant odour.

The authorities also affirmed that duty managers monitor the terminal premises round-the-clock to ensure proper upkeep.
