
Nagpur, 11 Dec (HS): Minister for Women and Child
Development Aditi Tatkare assured that the government will recover the benefits
under the ‘Ladki Bahin’ scheme from the ineligible beneficiaries.
Tatkare admitted that about 8,000 state government
employees received the benefits under the scheme despite being ineligible. She
was replying to the charges of corruption in the scheme in the Legislative
Assembly. About 14,000 women who did not have bank accounts used their husbands’
accounts to get the benefits. Their accounts will be scrutinised over the next
two months. MLA Sunil Prabhu also raised the issue of 14,998 male applicants and
26 lakh bogus applicants had derived benefits for the last 10 months.
Tatkare said that 2.43 crore out of 2.63 applications
were accepted Information and Technology Department had informed that about 2.6
million beneficiaries are also getting benefits under various other government
schemes. She reiterated that the sum extended to ineligible beneficiaries will
be recovered in the next two months.
