Imphal, 11 December (HS):

Security forces apprehended an active member of the KCP (MC Progressive) during an operation near ISBT, Khuman Lampak, under Imphal Police Station in Imphal West district on Wednesday. The arrested individual has been identified as Shamurailakpam Devshwar Sharma alias Amo, 26, a resident of Langol Laimanai in Imphal West. A mobile phone was taken into possession from him during the arrest.

In a separate operation the same day, security forces located a large cache of arms and equipment in the Phubala Mamang Patton area under Moirang Police Station in Bishnupur district. The team recovered an SLR rifle without a magazine, two SBBL guns, a 9 mm pistol with a magazine and a revolver pistol. Also seized were a No. 36 HE hand grenade without detonator, a detonator unit, and two PEKs weighing 200 grams.

Additionally, the forces found five live rounds of 7.62 mm SLR ammunition, two 12-bore live cartridges, a rubber bullet shell, a Baofeng handset, a helmet and two bullet-proof jackets. Authorities said further investigation is underway in both cases.---------
