Bhubaneswar, 11 December (H.S.): In the wake of large-scale violence in Malkangiri district following the recovery of a tribal woman’s headless body, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Thursday constituted a seven-member fact-finding committee to assess the situation on the ground. The move came under the direction of BJD President Naveen Patnaik.
The committee includes Manas Madkami (Coordinator), MLA Manohar Randhari, former Minister Ramesh Majhi, former MP Pradeep Majhi, former Minister Rabi Nanda, Ishwar Panigrahi, and Chitrakonda MLA candidate Laxmipriya Nayak. The team has been tasked with visiting the affected villages, evaluating the prevailing conditions, and submitting a comprehensive report to the party president.
“The Biju Janata Dal expresses deep concern over the incidents of violence in Malkangiri and urges the administration to take immediate measures to restore peace, ensure the safety of affected families, and bring those responsible to justice,” the party stated in an official press release.
