Guwahati, 11 December (HS): Police in Guwahati’s Paltan Bazar area have arrested a man for allegedly practising medicine with fake MBBS and MD degrees. Officials said on Thursday that they had received a tip-off about a suspected fake doctor offering medical treatment in the locality, following which an investigation was launched.
During the probe, police traced the accused to AK Azad Road, where he was reportedly providing medical services using forged certificates. The man, identified as Shubham Bhattacharya, was taken into custody for practising as a doctor using fake degrees purportedly issued from Kolkata.
According to police, the accused had been treating patients suffering from cancer and several other serious ailments despite lacking valid qualifications. Based on a complaint, a case has been registered, and investigators are conducting intensive questioning of the arrested individual.----------
