Odisha Police SI Exam Scam: CBI Gets Two-Day Custody of Five Key Accused

Bhubaneswar, 11 December (H.S.): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday secured a two-day remand of four prime accused in the Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam — Muna Mohanty, Srikant Maharana, T. Abhimanyu Dora and Priyadarshini Samal. All four were produced before a Bhubaneswar court, which granted custody to enable detailed questioning regarding their suspected involvement in manipulating the examination process.

In a parallel development, the CBI also obtained two-day custody of Nitish Kumar, who was arrested in Bihar and brought to Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. His interrogation is expected to shed light on the inter-state links that have surfaced in the recent phases of the investigation.

According to sources, all five accused will undergo face-to-face interrogation to help investigators map the chain of involvement and identify individuals who may have overseen, coordinated or facilitated the alleged irregularities. The agency aims to unravel the connections between the accused and determine whether additional operatives or senior figures were part of the conspiracy.

The latest development follows the recent arrest of Special Security Battalion jawan Arjun Nayak and middleman Nimai Charan Sahu, who were taken into custody in Bhubaneswar after two days of intensive questioning. The CBI is continuing to widen its probe as more layers of the recruitment scam come to light.
