New Delhi, 10 December (HS): Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met U.S. Deputy Trade Representative Rick Switzer today. The two officials discussed ongoing trade negotiations as well as economic and technological cooperation.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Wednesday that the discussions covered the strong India–U.S. economic and technology partnership, the status of ongoing trade talks, and opportunities to expand bilateral trade and enhance resilient supply chains.

It is noteworthy that in August 2025, the United States imposed a 50 percent tariff on most Indian goods, citing India’s trade barriers and purchases of Russian oil. Since then, trade negotiations between the two countries have been underway.
