New Delhi, 10 December (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tribute to freedom fighter, thinker, scholar, and statesman C. Rajagopalachari on his birth anniversary, recalling his enduring contributions to the nation’s freedom struggle and public life.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister described Rajagopalachari — popularly known as ‘Rajaji’ — as one of the most brilliant minds of the 20th century, who upheld the values of integrity, intellectual pursuit, and human dignity. Modi said that India gratefully remembers his distinguished service and moral leadership, which left an indelible mark on the nation’s history.

Highlighting Rajaji’s multifaceted legacy, the Prime Minister noted that he was not only a freedom fighter but also a visionary thinker and a profound intellectual who offered new perspectives to society and played a crucial role in nation-building.

Marking the occasion, Prime Minister Modi also shared some archival memories related to Rajaji. These include a photograph of him from his youth, the official notification of his appointment as a Cabinet Minister, an image with volunteers from the 1920s, and a 1922 edition of Young India, which Rajaji edited during Mahatma Gandhi’s imprisonment.
