Amaravati, 06 September (H.S.) — Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister K Atchannaidu on Sunday said market conditions in the ongoing 2025-26 Flue-Cured Virginia (FCV) tobacco auctions in the state had improved significantly, with a sharp decline in “no-bids” and increased competition among buyers.

The minister said the state government was taking steps to ensure better market conditions and remunerative prices for tobacco farmers.

According to an official press release, the ongoing FCV tobacco auctions have witnessed a steady improvement in market conditions. The decline in “no-bids” and increased competition among buyers indicated stronger demand for the produce, it said.

Atchannaidu said the government was committed to supporting tobacco farmers and taking necessary measures to improve the marketing environment and help them secure better returns for their produce.

The minister's remarks came amid the ongoing auction season for FCV tobacco in Andhra Pradesh, where farmers depend significantly on competitive bidding for the sale of their crop.

The government has been monitoring the auction process and market conditions with the objective of ensuring that farmers receive fair and remunerative prices, the release said.
