Kannur, 04 September (H.S.): Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Sri Krishna Janmashtami, saying the values represented by the concept of Lord Krishna carried a timeless message for humanity.

In a message shared on his Facebook page, Vijayan said the ideals associated with Lord Krishna could inspire people to face challenges with courage, fulfil their responsibilities with commitment and stand firmly on the side of goodness.

He said Krishna Janmashtami should also serve as an occasion to reaffirm society’s commitment to resisting injustice and wrongdoing while extending support to people facing hardship.

Vijayan stressed the importance of strengthening love, compassion and fraternity among people, saying these values remained particularly relevant in building a harmonious society.

The Opposition Leader said the message of Sri Krishna should encourage individuals to confront difficult circumstances without losing confidence and to discharge their duties with a strong sense of responsibility. The festival, he added, could provide inspiration for people to stand up against injustice and extend a helping hand to those in distress.

He expressed the hope that this year’s Krishna Janmashtami celebrations would become a message for creating a society founded on love, happiness and equality.

Sri Krishna Janmashtami, which marks the birth of Lord Krishna, is observed with religious and cultural programmes across Kerala and other parts of the country. Temples organise special prayers and ceremonies, while processions and programmes involving children dressed as Krishna and Radha are among the prominent features of the celebrations in the State.

Concluding his message, Vijayan conveyed his heartfelt Krishna Janmashtami greetings to people and expressed the hope that the festival would strengthen the values of compassion, social harmony and brotherhood.
