Thiruvananthapuram, 04 September (H.S.): Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan and his Cabinet colleagues will spend Friday and Saturday at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK), attending an intensive two-day leadership workshop aimed at developing new strategies for the State’s long-term growth.

Titled “Reimagining Kerala,” the residential programme will bring the Chief Minister and ministers together with academics and experts to discuss Kerala’s development prospects, emerging challenges and policy priorities.

The workshop has been conceived as a platform for exploring fresh ideas and strategic approaches that could shape Kerala’s future development. Several ministers arrived in Kozhikode on Thursday evening ahead of the sessions and will stay on the IIMK campus during the programme.

A wide range of issues confronting Kerala will be taken up during the workshop. These include leadership in the age of artificial intelligence, translating government policies into sustainable improvements in people’s lives, climate resilience and community-based disaster management.

Public health and the challenges posed by Kerala’s ageing population will also receive particular attention. Sessions will examine the emerging “silver economy” associated with an ageing society and ways to strengthen health and welfare systems.

Kerala’s economic and fiscal foundations, employment generation, entrepreneurship, skill development and excellence in higher education are among the other subjects on the agenda. Experts will also discuss strategies for positioning Kerala as a strong global brand.

Apart from faculty members of IIM Kozhikode, experts from Keio University in Japan and King’s College London will lead sessions during the programme.

A special session on health and well-being will be led by Dr. Aravind Srinivasan, Chief Medical Officer and Director-Projects at Aravind Eye Care System, and renowned cardiac surgeon Dr. Devi Shetty, Chairman of Narayana Health.

The workshop is expected to provide the Cabinet with a broader perspective on emerging economic, technological, demographic and environmental challenges while identifying policy options for Kerala’s next phase of development.
