New Delhi, 04 September (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and several other leaders congratulated the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) team on the successful launch of the country’s first imaging satellite into geosynchronous orbit. Notably, ISRO successfully launched the Earth observation satellite EOS-05 from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh early Friday morning.

Prime Minister Modi wrote on X, “Another remarkable achievement by ISRO and a proud moment for our nation. The successful launch of GSLV-F17 carrying India’s first imaging satellite, EOS-05, into geosynchronous orbit reflects the excellence, innovation and growing capabilities of India’s space sector. The growing partnership between ISRO and Indian industry is giving new strength and scale to our space programme, while also enhancing India’s capabilities across the entire space ecosystem.”

Rajnath Singh said that as India’s first imaging satellite placed in geosynchronous orbit, EOS-05 strengthens the country’s Earth observation capabilities and reflects the increasing sophistication of its space programme. He said the growing partnership between ISRO and Indian industry is giving a major boost to innovation, strengthening indigenous capabilities and opening up new avenues for India’s space ambitions.

Union Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said, “Another major achievement for India in the space sector! EOS-05 is a state-of-the-art Earth observation satellite and India’s first imaging satellite operating from geosynchronous orbit. It provides advanced imaging capabilities across visible, infrared, multispectral and hyperspectral bands. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India’s space capabilities continue to scale new heights, further strengthening the country’s position as a global space power.”

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said the achievement is a testament to the talent, ingenuity and steadily advancing capabilities of India’s space scientists and engineers. He said the growing collaboration between ISRO and Indian industry is providing new strength and scale to the space programme, further enhancing India’s capabilities across the space sector.

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said the achievement reflects India’s continued progress towards developing world-class capabilities in space science and technology. He added that it also demonstrates the purpose and ambition with which India’s space programme has been advancing under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said the successful launch of GSLV-F17 carrying EOS-05 marks another significant milestone in India’s growing Earth observation capabilities.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said India’s first imaging satellite, EOS-05, will further strengthen the country’s capabilities to observe and understand the Earth from geosynchronous orbit, capabilities that India has been developing over the years. He expressed pride in the country’s scientists, space engineers and researchers, whose dedication and expertise continue to take India’s space programme to new heights.

It is noteworthy that India once again scripted history by successfully launching the country’s first imaging satellite into geosynchronous orbit. The GSLV-F17 launch vehicle successfully placed the Unnati EOS-05 geo-imaging satellite approximately 36,000 kilometres above the Earth in geosynchronous orbit.
