
New Delhi, 04 September (H.S.): Global markets are providing positive signals today. US markets closed sharply higher in the previous session, although Dow Jones futures are currently trading lower. European markets also witnessed buying in the previous session. Similarly, Asian markets are broadly witnessing a positive trend today.
Wall Street indices managed to close firmly higher in the previous session amid indications that there would be no increase in interest rates in the United States. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1.18 per cent. Similarly, the S&P 500 Index ended the previous session at 7,747.71 points, up 81.11 points, or 1.06 per cent. The Nasdaq also jumped 366.23 points, or 1.40 per cent, to close at 26,584.06 points. Meanwhile, Dow Jones futures were currently trading 0.05 per cent lower at 53,657.77 points.
European markets also remained firmly supported by buying during the previous session. The FTSE Index jumped 75.07 points, or 0.69 per cent, to close at 10,831.52 points. Similarly, the CAC Index ended the previous session 0.07 per cent higher at 8,286.40 points. The DAX Index also climbed 163.99 points, or 0.63 per cent, to close at 26,003.32 points.
Asian markets are also witnessing buying activity today. Of the nine major Asian markets, eight indices are trading in positive territory, while one is in the red. The Jakarta Composite Index is the only major Asian index currently trading lower, declining 0.04 per cent to 6,665.11 points.
On the other hand, GIFT Nifty has jumped 72 points, or 0.30 per cent, to 24,004.50 points. Similarly, the Shanghai Composite Index has risen 0.35 per cent to 3,955.85 points. The Hang Seng Index is witnessing a strong rally today and is currently up 524.69 points, or 2.04 per cent, at 25,738 points.
The KOSPI Index is also showing considerable strength today. It is currently up 101.88 points, or 1.55 per cent, at 6,681.36 points. Similarly, the Straits Times Index has jumped 64.04 points, or 1.11 per cent, to 5,811.75 points. The Nikkei Index is trading 704.52 points, or 1.10 per cent, higher at 64,919 points, while the Taiwan Weighted Index has gained 349.26 points, or 0.76 per cent, to 46,206.92 points. The SET Composite Index is also trading 0.25 per cent higher at 1,580.79 points.
