Sambhajinagar, 04 Sept (HS): A fire broke out the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
(NICU) of the Asian Hospital at the Akashwani Square of Chhatrapati
Sambhajinagar, around 2.45 am on Friday. The health service staff of the
hospital, and Firefighters immediately shifted the nine infants in the ward to
other hospital and saved their lives.
Five infants
were shifted to Ghati Hospital, three to MGM Hospital and one to Sanjeevani
Hospital.
The fire that
broke out due to short circuit in the air conditioner, was brought under
control within 15 minutes preventing spreading of the fire.
As many as 30
ambulances reached the hospital. RCP soldiers and Jawahar Nagar Police rushed
to the hospital for the rescue operation.
The NICU is on
the first floor of the hospital where nine infants were being treated. In the
general ward of the hospital 36 patients and 13 in special rooms were being
treated at the time of incident. All are reported to be safe.
