Prayagraj, 28 Sept (HS): Doctors from the Department of

Obstetrics and Gynecology at Swarup Rani Nehru Hospital successfully removed 13

fibroids from the uterus of a 25-year-old unmarried woman in a complex

operation. The operation was performed by Dr. Shakti Jain, Associate Professor

and Obstetrician in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. His team

included Dr. Vandana Ojha, Dr. Deepshikha, and Dr. Priyanka Chaudhary, and the

anesthesia team included Dr. Dharmendra Yadav and Dr. Aarti Singh.

The woman had been experiencing health problems for quite

some time due to numerous small and large cysts in her uterus. After necessary

tests revealed multiple fibroids in her uterus, doctors decided to perform a

myomectomy while preserving the uterus.

Dr. Shakti Jain and his team performed the operation with

utmost care, removing a total of 13 fibroids from the uterus. Removing such a

large number of fibroids simultaneously was medically challenging. The doctors'

priority was to control bleeding during the operation and preserve the woman's

uterus. The woman is in satisfactory condition after the operation and is under

medical supervision.

Dr. Shakti Jain explained, The young woman had a total

of 13 cysts of various sizes in her uterus. Removing all the cysts while

preserving the uterus was challenging. Our team successfully completed the

operation with utmost care and skill. The patient's condition is satisfactory.

Having a uterus intact will help preserve her future fertility.

What are uterine fibroids? Uterine fibroids are medically

known as uterine fibroids. They are usually noncancerous growths that form in

the uterine muscle. They can range in size from very small to quite large. A

woman may have one or multiple fibroids in her uterus.

Fibroids can cause problems such as excessive or prolonged

menstrual bleeding, lower abdominal pain and heaviness, abdominal enlargement,

frequent urination, constipation, back pain, anemia, weakness, and difficulty

conceiving. However, many women do not have any obvious symptoms and are

discovered during a routine examination or ultrasound.

Doctors say that not every fibroid requires surgery.

Treatment is decided based on the number, size, and location of the cysts, the

patient's age, symptoms, and desire for future pregnancy. Myomectomy involves

removing only the cysts and attempting to preserve the uterus.

Women should consult a gynecologist if they experience

excessive menstrual bleeding, persistent abdominal pain, abnormal abdominal

distension, extreme weakness, or difficulty conceiving. Timely diagnosis and

appropriate treatment can prevent serious anemia and other complications.
