New Delhi, 17 September (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended his greetings to the people of the country on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti. He offered special felicitations to artisans and skilled workers engaged in construction and craftsmanship across the country, saying their skill and hard work are of immense importance in realising the resolve of building a developed and self-reliant India.

In a post on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi said that on this sacred occasion associated with Lord Vishwakarma, the divine architect, he extended his special greetings to artisans and skilled workers across the country who are engaged in construction-related activities. He said the skill and hard work of artisans play a significant role in the development of the nation and in building a self-reliant India.

He said the government remained fully committed to ensuring that the efforts of artisans and skilled workers towards the reconstruction and development of the nation continued to receive every possible encouragement and support.

Along with his message, the Prime Minister also shared a Subhashita describing the glory of Lord Vishwakarma:

“अनादिरप्रमेयश्च अरूपश्च जयाजयः। लोकरूपो जगन्नाथः विश्वकर्मन्नमो नमः॥”

The verse means that Lord Vishwakarma is eternal, beginningless, infinite and immeasurable. He has no defined or fixed form and transcends victory and defeat. He exists as the embodiment of the entire universe and as the Lord of the world. Such is Lord Vishwakarma, to whom repeated salutations are offered.
