New Delhi, 17 September (H.S.): The Central Government has reduced the windfall tax on exports of petrol, diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF), with the revised rates coming into effect.

In a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, the government said that the windfall tax on exports of petrol, diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) had been reduced for the fortnight beginning September 16. The revised duty rates have come into force.

According to the notification issued by the Ministry, the rate of Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED), including the Road and Infrastructure Cess, on exports of diesel has been reduced from Rs 25 to Rs 20 per litre. Similarly, the SAED on exports of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) has been cut from Rs 19 to Rs 15 per litre.

Likewise, the duty on exports of petrol has been reduced to Rs 0.50 per litre from Rs 1.50 per litre during the previous fortnight. The Ministry also clarified that there has been no change in the existing duty rates applicable to petrol and diesel meant for domestic consumption.

It may be noted that amid escalating tensions in West Asia, the Central Government had imposed the duty on exports of diesel and ATF on March 27, 2026. These windfall tax rates are revised every fortnight. The duty on exports of petrol was also introduced with effect from May 16.
