New Delhi, September 13 (HS): The New Delhi Declaration adopted at the 18th BRICS Summit 2026, held under India's chairmanship and under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is a historic achievement for India and will create new opportunities for trade, investment and business for Indian traders, MSMEs, startups and exporters.

Praveen Khandelwal, Chandni Chowk Member of Parliament and National General Secretary of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), made the remarks on Sunday while commenting on the New Delhi Declaration, which was unanimously adopted during the 18th BRICS Summit. Khandelwal said the declaration was a testament to India's growing influence globally and to Prime Minister Modi's successful leadership, under which India has emerged as a strong and credible voice on the world stage.

The CAIT National General Secretary said the emphasis on trade facilitation, transactions in local currencies, digital payments, technological cooperation, resilient supply chains and economic partnerships would provide Indian businesses with new opportunities to expand into the markets of BRICS member countries. Welcoming the commitment to a fair and rules-based global trading system and the opposition to protectionist policies, he said these measures would benefit developing countries such as India and lend fresh strength to international trade.

Khandelwal said the declaration was aligned with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Make in India, Vocal for Local and Local to Global, and would provide Indian manufacturers, traders and entrepreneurs with greater opportunities to integrate into global value chains. He welcomed the special emphasis on digital public infrastructure, artificial intelligence (AI), innovation and fintech, saying that India is rapidly assuming a global leadership role in these areas. He also described the strong stance against terrorism as evidence of growing international support for India's long-standing policy on the issue.

In line with the spirit of the New Delhi Declaration, Khandelwal suggested launching a BRICS Trade Connect Mission to provide Indian traders and MSMEs with market intelligence, buyer-seller meetings, export assistance and business networking opportunities. Khandelwal said, The New Delhi Declaration is not merely a diplomatic document, but a visionary roadmap for economic growth, trade expansion and global cooperation. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is playing a crucial role in shaping the global economic order, and its direct benefits will accrue to the country's traders, entrepreneurs, MSMEs and the wider industrial sector.
