Kochi, 31 August (H.S.):Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan will arrive in Kochi on Monday as part of his two-day visit to Kerala and Lakshadweep, with the police imposing traffic restrictions and deploying more than 1,000 personnel across the city and rural police districts.

Radhakrishnan will inaugurate the silver jubilee celebrations of Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology and an Industry-Academia Summit at Kakkanad at 4 pm.

Governor Rajendra Arlekar, Chief Minister V D Satheesan, Union Minister Suresh Gopi and Kerala Minister Roji M John are among the dignitaries expected to attend the event.

The Vice-President arrived in Kerala on Sunday and attended programmes in Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta. He also inaugurated the culmination of the Onam Week celebrations in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday evening.

Radhakrishnan will reach Agatti in Lakshadweep from Thiruvananthapuram on Monday morning. During his visit, he will launch ‘Mission Rangeen Machhli 2031’, an initiative of the Union Ministry of Fisheries aimed at promoting ornamental fish production and creating livelihood opportunities in the sector. He will also participate in a public outreach programme at Agatti.

After completing his engagements in Lakshadweep, the Vice-President is scheduled to arrive at Cochin International Airport around 1 pm. He will then travel by road to the Rajagiri campus at Kakkanad.

Police have announced traffic restrictions along the route between the airport and Kakkanad during his movement. Motorists have been advised to avoid the affected stretches and take alternative routes. Additional personnel have been deployed to regulate traffic.

The authorities have also prohibited drone operations across Ernakulam district as part of the security arrangements.

Following the Rajagiri programme, Radhakrishnan will return by road to Cochin International Airport and leave for New Delhi later in the night, concluding his two-day visit.
