Lucknow, 25 Aug (HS): In the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday

under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, 24 proposals

including free travel for women above 60 years of age in Uttar Pradesh

Transport Corporation buses have been approved.

Following the cabinet meeting, Minister of State for

Transport (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh announced that the proposal

for free bus travel for women over 60 has been approved. The Lokmata Ahilyabai

Matrishakti Yojana was approved. Under this scheme, women over 60 will be

allowed lifetime free travel on all Transport Corporation buses.

Over one crore women will benefit from this scheme. They

will be able to travel by showing their voter ID card or Aadhaar card. This is

being considered a major gift to women by the Uttar Pradesh government, headed

by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, ahead of Rakshabandhan.
