London, 25 August (H.S.): Tottenham Hotspur have signed Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City, taking the club’s spending for the current season beyond £300 million under new manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Although the financial terms and duration of the contract were not disclosed, both clubs confirmed Savinho’s transfer on Monday. According to British media reports, the deal is worth around £75 million, with a further £10 million potentially payable in add-ons.

Praising Savinho, De Zerbi said in a statement that the Brazilian brings energy, imagination and quality to the wing. He added that the player has the courage to take on defenders and the creativity to change the course of a match.

Savinho began his professional career with Atletico Mineiro before joining Troyes in 2022. He subsequently enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Girona. In 2024, he made 41 appearances for Girona and scored 11 goals, playing a key role in helping the club secure a historic third-place finish in La Liga, its best-ever position in the competition.

He subsequently joined Manchester City, making 84 appearances and scoring seven goals across all competitions. The 22-year-old has also represented Brazil 13 times.

Savinho is the latest addition to Tottenham’s busy transfer window. The club had previously brought in players including Sandro Tonali, Matheus Fernandes, Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke.

Following Savinho’s transfer, including potential add-ons, Tottenham’s total spending is estimated to have reached around £322 million. The club finished 17th in the Premier League last season and is now undertaking a major overhaul of its squad.

According to British media reports, Tottenham are also in talks to sign Manchester City’s Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush. Tottenham began the new Premier League season with a 3-0 defeat to Brentford.
