Hooghly, 20 August (H.S.): Administrative efforts have been stepped up to assess the prevailing situation in flood-affected areas of Khanakul-I block. West Bengal Minister Sumana Sarkar held an important meeting with administrative officials at the Khanakul-I BDO office on Thursday to review the flood situation.

The meeting focused on the condition of inundated areas, the difficulties faced by local residents and measures to ensure that relief materials and essential services reach affected people at the earliest. The administration also stressed the need to expedite relief and rescue operations in the affected areas.

Preparations for conducting on-ground inspections of flood-hit areas were also discussed. Officials reviewed the extent of waterlogging, areas where communication has been disrupted and locations requiring urgent relief and essential services. The meeting emphasised coordinated action with the administration to address the situation.

Khanakul MLA Sushanta Ghosh and Pursurah MLA Biman Ghosh were also present at the meeting. Minister Sumana Sarkar said the priority during the disaster was to stand by the affected people and ensure that necessary assistance reaches them without delay.

The meeting underlined the need for close coordination with the administration to tackle the flood situation and provide assistance to affected residents. Authorities assured that efforts would continue on a priority basis in the coming days to minimise the hardships faced by the people.
