New Delhi, 20 August (H.S.): The English-language book ‘Grit and Glory’, which chronicles social and cultural transformations in Assam and other parts of the Northeast through the work of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its affiliated organisations, will be launched at Keshav Kunj, the RSS headquarters in Delhi, on August 25. Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend the event as the chief guest, while Panchjanya editor Hitesh Shankar will be present as the guest of honour.
According to the organisers, ‘Grit and Glory’ has been authored by Abhijit Jog and published by Suruchi Prakashan. Hari Bhau Mirasdar, who served as an RSS pracharak in various parts of Assam between 1965 and 1971, played a significant role in compiling material for the book. He interviewed at least 175 workers across the state and gathered additional information for the publication.
Mirasdar told Hindusthan Samachar that the book briefly documents the social and cultural transformation in the Northeast through the work undertaken by the RSS and its various affiliated organisations. It also features interviews with 62 workers who played an important role in expanding the RSS’s activities in Assam.
According to Mirasdar, there was previously no comprehensive publication documenting the cultural changes brought about through the RSS’s activities in Assam and other parts of the Northeast, as well as the contributions of its workers. The book is an effort to address this gap.
He said the publication would help provide an understanding of how the expansion of RSS activities influenced social and cultural changes in Assam and other parts of the region, while also highlighting the contributions of individuals who played a significant role in the process.
The book is expected to be published soon in Marathi, Hindi and Assamese, following its English edition.
