Howrah, 20 August (H.S.): Bally Police have solved a house burglary case and arrested an accused from the Tangra area of Kolkata. The accused has been identified as Karim Molla. Police have also recovered the stolen gold ornaments from his possession.

According to the police, on the evening of July 26, Shaibal Gupta, a resident of Shantiram Road under Bally Police Station, had gone to attend a local event with his family. When they returned home, they found that the house had been ransacked during their absence. On checking, they discovered that approximately 6–7 bharis of gold ornaments and Rs 50,000 in cash had been stolen.

The incident was immediately reported to Bally Police Station. An investigation was subsequently launched and a case was registered at Bally Police Station on July 27 under Case No. 151/26.

During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage from the surrounding areas and obtained images of several suspicious individuals. Based on the modus operandi of the crime, police conducted inquiries in neighbouring police station areas and carried out raids at suspected locations.

As part of the investigation, the team led by Investigating Officer PSI Khagen Majumder and ASI Rabindranath Rui arrested Karim Molla, who is allegedly from the Tangra Police Station area. During police custody, the stolen gold ornaments were recovered based on information provided by the accused.

Howrah Police Commissionerate said it continues to conduct regular operations to prevent crime and apprehend offenders. Police stated that investigations based on technical evidence and other leads would continue in similar cases.
