Mumbai, 18 Aug
(HS): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has appreciated work of FDA
Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe in taking action against spurious food products,
which are harming public health.
FDA is taking
action against hotels, dairies and shops and cancelling their permits on a
daily basis.
Fadnavis told
the media when asked about Mundhe’s drive against spurious food materials being
sold in the markets is a welcome step and added that FDA should continue with
the mission.
Deputy Chief
Minister Eknath Shinde held a meeting with Mundhe on August 11 and said the
adulteration in milk and dairy products will be punished under Maharashtra
Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). He said that any loopholes in the
existing law should not be available for the criminals to escape the punishment
from playing with the health of public.
