
Bhubaneswar, 17 August (H.S.): The family of late Home Guard Pradeep Kumar Martha has received financial assistance of Rs 6.55 lakh, contributed by IPS officers of Odisha.
At a programme held at the Operations Headquarters on Sunday, ADGP (Anti-Naxal Operations) Sanjeeb Panda handed over the cheque to Martha’s wife, Urmila Martha. IGP (Operations) Deepak Kumar was also present on the occasion.
Home Guard Pradeep Kumar Martha passed away on April 24, 2026, while undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was serving at the IPS Mess in the city.
Odisha Police has continued to extend support to the bereaved family following his death. Earlier, on June 17, Urmila Martha was provided Rs 4 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund as ex-gratia assistance.
The family also received Rs 1.12 lakh from the Retired IPS Officers’ Association. The cheque was handed over by association president L.C. Amarnathan on June 18.
In another significant measure, Urmila Martha was appointed as a Home Guard in the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate on August 15.
The continued assistance extended by Odisha Police reflects the department’s commitment to supporting the families of its personnel during difficult times. The financial assistance and employment support are expected to provide the bereaved family with greater stability and help strengthen their confidence as they move forward.
