Bhubaneswar, 17 August (H.S.): In view of the prevailing flood situation in Odisha, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has deputed three senior leaders to oversee relief and restoration efforts in some of the worst-affected districts.

According to an office order issued on Monday by BJD president and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, former minister Pradip Kumar Amat has been assigned to Jajpur, former minister Dr Arun Kumar Sahoo to Bhadrak, and former minister Sanjay Kumar Das Burma to Baleshwar.

The three leaders have been directed to visit flood-affected areas, interact with affected residents and assess the situation on the ground. They will also coordinate with the respective district administrations, local BJD leaders and party functionaries to facilitate relief and restoration measures.

The assignments have come into effect immediately.

The BJD’s decision comes amid a worsening flood situation in several parts of northern Odisha. Jajpur, Bhadrak and Baleshwar districts have been particularly affected, with the Baitarani and Jalaka rivers overflowing and inundating low-lying areas.
