New Delhi, 17 August (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced ex-gratia assistance from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of those who died and for those injured in the incident in West Bengal’s Birbhum district.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), in a post on social media platform X, said that an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh from the PMNRF would be provided to the next of kin of each person who lost their life in the incident. Those injured would receive financial assistance of Rs 50,000.

The PMO said, “In view of the incident in Birbhum, West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured.”

Earlier, the Prime Minister had expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the fire incident in Birbhum, West Bengal. He conveyed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
