New Delhi, 16 August (H.S.): The Delhi government on Sunday said it has fulfilled its commitment to establish 100 Atal Canteens across the national capital with the inauguration of 25 new outlets in Timarpur.

The government said the target of setting up 100 Atal Canteens, announced on December 25, 2025, on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, was achieved on his death anniversary.

Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated the 25 new Atal Canteens in Timarpur and formally dedicated them to the people of Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari and MLA Surya Prakash Khatri were present at the event.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that with all 100 Atal Canteens now operational, nearly one lakh workers and people from economically weaker sections will be able to access nutritious meals every day for just Rs 5.

She said the initiative would provide affordable food to workers and needy families while fulfilling another commitment made by the Delhi government to the people of the capital.

The government said the expansion of the Atal Canteen network is aimed at ensuring that affordable and nutritious food remains accessible to people who need it, particularly workers and economically disadvantaged families.
