New Delhi, 16 August (H.S.): Gold prices rose across most major bullion markets in the country on Sunday, a day after Independence Day, while silver prices declined during the day’s trading session.

Except in Chennai, gold prices increased by ₹2,060 to ₹2,250 per 10 grams across most major bullion markets. In Chennai, the price of gold rose by ₹1,810 to ₹1,970 per 10 grams. In contrast, silver prices declined by as much as ₹4,900 per kilogram.

Following the latest movement, 24-carat gold was trading at between ₹1,55,130 and ₹1,55,280 per 10 grams in most major bullion markets. Similarly, 22-carat gold was being sold in the range of ₹1,42,200 to ₹1,42,350 per 10 grams.

With silver prices witnessing a decline, the precious metal was trading at ₹2,50,000 per kilogram in the Delhi bullion market.

Weekly performance

On a weekly basis, both gold and silver recorded gains, supported by a sustained upward trend in international markets. During the previous week’s trading, 24-carat gold gained as much as ₹3,490 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold increased by up to ₹3,200 per 10 grams.

Silver also strengthened during the week on the back of favourable global cues. Despite Sunday’s decline, the metal recorded a weekly gain of up to ₹5,000 per kilogram.

City-wise gold prices

In Delhi, 24-carat gold was trading at ₹1,55,280 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold was priced at ₹1,42,350 per 10 grams.

In Mumbai, the country’s financial capital, 24-carat gold was available at ₹1,55,130 per 10 grams and 22-carat gold at ₹1,42,200 per 10 grams.

In Ahmedabad, the retail price of 24-carat gold stood at ₹1,55,180 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold was priced at ₹1,42,250 per 10 grams.

In Chennai, 24-carat gold was trading at ₹1,55,130 per 10 grams and 22-carat gold at ₹1,42,200 per 10 grams.

Kolkata also recorded prices of ₹1,55,130 per 10 grams for 24-carat gold and ₹1,42,200 per 10 grams for 22-carat gold.

In Bhopal, 24-carat gold was priced at ₹1,55,180 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold stood at ₹1,42,250 per 10 grams.

In Jaipur, 24-carat gold was trading at ₹1,55,280 per 10 grams and 22-carat gold at ₹1,42,350 per 10 grams.

In Patna, 24-carat gold was priced at ₹1,55,180 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold was available at ₹1,42,250 per 10 grams.

In Lucknow, 24-carat gold was trading at ₹1,55,280 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold stood at ₹1,42,350 per 10 grams.

Gold prices were also firm in the bullion markets of Karnataka, Telangana and Odisha during the early trading session. In Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar, 24-carat gold was trading at ₹1,55,130 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold was priced at ₹1,42,200 per 10 grams.

The latest price movements reflect the continued influence of international market trends on domestic precious-metal prices, with gold maintaining its strong weekly performance despite day-to-day fluctuations in silver prices.
