New Delhi, 15 August (H.S.):
BJP national president Nitin Nabin paid tribute to Sri Aurobindo on his birth anniversary, recalling his profound contributions to nationalist thought and spiritual consciousness. In a post on social media platform X, Nabin described Sri Aurobindo as a “visionary thinker, nationalist and spiritual seer.”
Nabin said Sri Aurobindo’s transformative writings provided profound intellectual and spiritual direction to India’s freedom movement. He noted that Sri Aurobindo developed a vision of Bharat Mata not merely as a geographical territory but as a living embodiment of the collective consciousness of its people.
Nabin said Sri Aurobindo’s unwavering faith in India’s heritage and the evolution of humanity continues to inspire people towards self-transformation and dedicated service to the nation.
Sri Aurobindo Ghose was born on August 15, 1872, in Calcutta. After receiving his early education, he travelled to England, where he pursued higher studies. Following his return to India, he joined the service of the Baroda State. During this period, his interest in Indian culture, philosophy and nationalism grew rapidly.
In 1908, Sri Aurobindo was arrested in connection with the Alipore Bomb Case. His time in prison had a profound impact on his life and thinking, after which his inclination towards spiritual practice increasingly deepened.
In 1910, he moved to Pondicherry, where he spent most of the remainder of his life pursuing spiritual practice, philosophy and writing.
