Prayagraj, 13 Aug (HS): No. 4 Air

Force Band, one of the distinguished bands of the Indian Air Force, was raised

in the early 1960s and was initially established at 06 Wing Air Force

Barrackpore. Since 1973, the Band has been proudly based at Air Force Station

Bamrauli, Prayagraj, where it has established a strong identity through its

musical excellence and ceremonial prowess.

The Band comprises highly

accomplished Air Warriors proficient in a wide range of instruments, including

brass, woodwind, reed, string, electronic and percussion instruments. Its

repertoire reflects the versatility of military music, seamlessly blending

traditional martial compositions with Indian melodies, popular music and

contemporary arrangements. Through its performances, the Band seeks not only to

entertain but also to foster awareness of the Indian Air Force and strengthen

its connect with the people.

Over the years, No. 4 Air Force

Band has earned distinction through performances at numerous prestigious

national and international events. Its musical excellence has taken it beyond

India’s borders to countries including the United Kingdom, France, Italy,

Germany, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka and

Bangladesh. The Band has also represented India at international military music

festivals, showcasing the country’s rich musical heritage and the

professionalism of the Indian Air Force on the global stage.

Within the country, the Band has

been an integral part of several important ceremonial occasions. Its

performances have enhanced Guard of Honour ceremonies, President’s Standard

presentations, handing-over and taking-over parades, social evenings, Republic

Day celebrations and the Beating Retreat Ceremony. It has also performed at

Kartavya Path during Republic Day celebrations, contributing to some of the

nation’s most significant ceremonial traditions.

The Band has consistently played an

important role in strengthening the bond between the Armed Forces and the

public. Its performances at public concerts and patriotic events have brought

the spirit of the Indian Air Force closer to citizens. In August 2025, No. 4

Air Force Band presented a grand musical display at Amar Shaheed Chandrashekhar

Azad Park, Prayagraj, on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day. The

performance drew a large and enthusiastic audience and was widely appreciated

for its stirring blend of martial music, soulful melodies and patriotic

compositions.

Continuing this proud tradition for

the second year, Air Force Station Bamrauli proudly presents the No. 4 Air

Force Band in Concert at Amar Shaheed Chandra Shekhar Azad Park, Prayagraj, on

15 August 2026 from 6:30 PM onwards, as part of the Independence Day

celebrations.

The musical evening will feature an

enthralling blend of martial tunes, patriotic compositions, Indian melodies and

popular musical numbers, offering the people of Prayagraj an opportunity to

witness the musical prowess of the Indian Air Force.

The performance is free and open to

all. Everyone is cordially invited to join us for this special musical evening

and celebrate the spirit of Independence through the stirring sounds of the No.

4 Air Force Band.
