Mumbai, 12 Aug

(HS): Two people died in a landslide in Gausia Chawl in Chiragnagar in

Ghatkopar-Sakinaka area of Mumbai. Five to six people are feared buried under

the debris. A part of the hill collapsed over two to three houses around 3 am

to 4 am on Wednesday, when the people were sleeping.

Heavy rains

since last night in Mumbai led to the landslide. As people were sleeping they

had no opportunity to run away.

Fire Brigade and

other agencies of the municipal corporation rushed to the site. They faced

problems in reaching the site through very narrow lanes.

The rescue

operation by the Bombay Municipal Corporation, Fire Brigade and National Disaster

Response Force was in progress.

Mumbai’s Mayor

Ritu Tawde reached the site to review the situation.
