
Melbourne/New Delhi, 09 July (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met Australian Governor-General Sam Mostyn and held wide-ranging discussions on various aspects of the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The two leaders agreed to further strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, education, innovation, and sports, noting that deeper collaboration in these sectors would create new opportunities and deliver tangible benefits for the people of both countries.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the meeting in Melbourne reflected the growing depth and diversity of the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the steady progress in bilateral relations and welcomed the rapid expansion of economic ties between the two countries. They also expressed confidence that cooperation in trade, investment, education, and innovation would continue to broaden in the years ahead.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi and Governor-General Mostyn also expressed satisfaction over the strengthening sporting relationship between India and Australia. In view of India's preparations to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games and Australia's hosting of the 2032 Summer Olympic Games, they underscored the importance of deepening sports cooperation and promoting greater exchanges in the sector.
Prime Minister Modi said that the strong people-to-people ties between India and Australia remain the greatest strength of the bilateral relationship and continue to play a pivotal role in elevating the partnership to new heights.
The Prime Minister also appreciated Governor-General Sam Mostyn's continued support and commitment to advancing India-Australia relations. Both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the years to come.
