Kannur, 08 July (H.S.):The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted an inspection of a parcel of land owned by T. Veena, daughter of Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan, in Kannur as part of its ongoing investigation into the alleged CMRL–Exalogic financial transactions, popularly referred to as the 'monthly payment' (Masappadi) case.
According to sources, the inspection was carried out on Tuesday morning by an ED team that arrived with the property's title deed and other relevant documents. The officials were assisted by the local Village Officer during the verification process.
The team examined the 80-cent property owned by Veena, along with an adjoining area near the house. The Village Officer identified the boundaries of the land for the investigators, who photographed the property and surrounding areas as part of the inspection. The officials also collected copies of the land tax records before concluding their visit.
The inspection is being viewed as part of the ED's efforts to gather additional evidence in its investigation into the alleged financial dealings between Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) and Exalogic Solutions, the IT company associated with Veena. The agency is examining whether payments made by CMRL to Exalogic were linked to any irregularities or violations of financial laws.
Veena has already appeared before the Enforcement Directorate twice for questioning in connection with the case. Investigative sources have indicated that she could be summoned again for a third round of questioning as the probe progresses.
Earlier in the investigation, ED officials had also searched Veena's bank locker as part of their efforts to trace financial transactions and assets linked to the case.
The latest land inspection signals that the Enforcement Directorate is continuing to widen its investigation by verifying property records and other documentary evidence as it seeks to establish the financial trail in the CMRL–Exalogic case.
